I began DJing in high school after suggestions from teachers who noticed I could identify a song’s title and its artist within the first few seconds. I was already into music and school choirs at the time as well as being known for carrying a boombox through the halls after class. Continuing with my interest, I dove into mixing music. Starting on an all-in-one Numark deck, I soon wanted to expand into scratching and learning the tactile motion of real Technics 1200s. Scrounging the internet, I found a pair and started to learn mixing and scratching techniques on the ones and twos. From there I began DJing for a local hip-hop group and also joined up with an event company out of Dayton. Working with them since, I have DJed over 250 events, from weddings to bridal shows, anniversaries to Casino events, and everything in between.

While digital DJing was my foundation, venturing into analog turntable/vinyl DJing has honed my skills and developed a deeper understanding of music/arrangement and aligning music.

Growing up listening to local R&B/soul/funk/jazz and greatest hits radio, I later developed an interest in hip hop, electronica, punk, and modern versions/samples of the music genres I grew up with. Cultural references in media and my interest in music history introduced me to a plethora of older hits and obscure music spanning decades and genres.

I started digitally, but going analog help hone skills and develop a deeper understanding of music/arrangement and aligning music
